I have taken the liberty of enclosing a link to a You Tube video for
your consideration. I would very much appreciate it if you could view
it and tell me your own personal opinion of its validity and
feasibility. The video in question, is quite lengthy, but its broken
up into a few 10 minute segments. Viewing just the first couple of
segments should be sufficient to get the jest of the video and the
purported "eye witness" testimonies in question. Dr. Maurice Rawlings,
MD, a heart surgeon, has written a number of books on the death
experience and clearly shows from his own practice and from the
experiences of his patients, that not everyone goes to the light when
they die, where there is total love. Many of his patients, after being
resuscitated on the operating table, spoke about hell. It is
noteworthy, that most of these individuals
interviewed were not particularly religious prior to the alleged
experiences in question.

I am an atheist.
You should be able to deduce my opinion on this question in about 0.48
seconds - if you are not retarded.

Have a go - post it here and I will tell you if you are right or
wrong.

I just watched about 45 seconds of this -
It is infantile nonsense.
It makes me weep for my species that adult humans are this gullible.

What else would the brain fantasize about while in its death throes? It
calls upon what is stored in the memory banks. Perhaps these patients
spoke of hell because they actually believed they were hell-bound.
Others speak of some great light leading them to heaven, and claim to
have seen dead relatives. Because that's what they dearly want and
remember.

Once the lights go out, though, and death is final, consciousness ends
and you cease to exist, since consciousness is a product of brain
function.

Do you normally refer to the brain in the third person?.

A good defence in court would be 'the brain did it your
honour' (Couldnt say made 'me' do it because that acknowledges an
'owner' identity)

For consistency, shouldnt you say 'the brains' believed?

I see. Some brains do and some dont.

That statement is a valid as Biblical stories. Rich in rhetoric and
lacking in proof.

Our brain scientists are still looking for conscousness.

Thats like the fish looking for the water.

I find the idea that you can "glimpse" heaven or hell as you are dying to
be another example of not thinking things through. If you are being
resuscitated, are you dead, or alive? If you are "mostly dead" (as
Miracle Max would say) but still a little bit alive, what business do you
have glimpsing anything of the afterlife? If you are glimpsing the
afterlife, how can mere earth-bound mortals get you back? Can God/Satan
not hang on to your soul if your doctor gets the right medications into
your bloodstream, and the defibrillator is working well? Wouldn't that
give us the power of gods?

Anyone who trusts the subjective experience of someone with cerebral
anoxia could stand a little reality check.

Ever thought through that drug (or even natural) induced ecstacy or
medication induced terror may be such 'glimpses' ?

There are precise clinical definitions. Some recorded cases include
those that showed zero brain function 'coming back'.

Same as my first question.

Not a valid question if it is not 'afterlife' but a higher dimension
of your own life being experienced.

You have to invent gods befor you give 'em power (as you are alluding
to here).

Trusting anyones subjective experience is brilliant example of an
oxymoron.

It also leads to beliefs...and we all know where they lead !

We know that chemical manipulation of neurotransmitters in the brain can
produce a wide variety of sensory hallucinations. We don't know that
heaven or hell even exist, let alone be "glimsed".

Definitions are attempts to classify reality. They are not always
perfect. Like most things, the line between living and dead is often
fuzzy.
